Graduation Updates

Congratulations!
Dear Parents,

The school year is quickly coming to an end and the RIS staff is busy preparing our annual graduation ceremony, which will be held Thursday, June 2nd. In preparation for the event I would like to inform you of the graduate’s dress code. On the day of the ceremony all Grade 5 and Grade 8 students must wear their regular school uniform (No P.E. uniforms). Please ensure your child comes to school on that day wearing their full cleaned & pressed uniform. In order to look professional, it is very important that all graduating students wear the same outfit. Also, students are required to wear black dress shoes. No sport shoes will be permitted. For girls wearing the school uniform skirt, they must wear black tights. Any graduate without their full uniform will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony. We appreciate your help with the dress code and look forward to seeing you on the graduation day. Please contact me as soon as possible if there are any issues with this dress code.

We will also be running buses that day after the ceremony.  If you plan to take your child with you at the end, please let us know.  Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions regarding this day, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to seeing all of you there!

Oh the dreaded "H" word...homework...

Dear dedicated Middle School students,
Are you tired of all the homework that your teachers assign you?  Do you ever wonder why all the teachers assign homework in the first place?  Is it to move you as far away from the TV and computer as possible?  Is it so that you won't have time to go outside and play?  Well, for those of you wondering, daily homework assignments are assigned so that you can improve your understanding of the lesson taught in class.  Homework assignments are meant to compliment what you are learning and will be learning in class.  Rest assured...homework does a body good! :>
Sponge Bob agrees...
YOU NEED TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

"Said is Dead"

You may be wondering, "How could my favorite word die?" I know, I know.  It's a sad parting when you have to give up something you treasure.  We all have to do it sometime.  Growing and moving on to better choices in life (well at least in writing) includes utilizing improved word choices.  Below is a list of options that you can choose from to avoid using the word "said."  Whenever you get stuck on this word, check back to this list.
